My Approach

I utilize an integrated approach that allows me to modify my practice to best support every unique client. Here are the main approaches I use:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT believes that how we feel, think, and behave is closely connected. In CBT sessions, we will identify and change destructive or disturbing thought patterns that negatively influence behavior and emotions. We will also develop concrete tools that help you cope with emotional and behavioral challenges outside of the sessions. As a solution-focused and action-oriented approach, it is proven to be effective in helping people of all ages with a wide range of issues, especially stress, depression, anxiety, and anxiety-related issues.

Humanistic Approach

Have you ever felt like you are not enough? As a humanistic therapist, I genuinely believe that everyone is a lively "seed" full of inner power. We are all good at heart, and when nurtured by the right soil, we are capable of making the right choices for ourselves. Together, we will create a safe and respectful space to talk about anything on your mind. In therapy, you will receive unconditional positive regard from me, and eventually, you will develop that self-acceptance and love for yourself.

Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT )

IPT is a relatively short-term approach that focuses on relieving emotional distress by improving the quality of current interpersonal relationships. We will explore your current social circle and work together to reduce feelings of loneliness, unresolved grief, life transitions, and conflicting expectations between partners, family members, close friends, or coworkers.

Vocational/Academic Counseling

Career development takes up more than 1/3 of our lives, and it's so closely tied to our quality of life. In vocational counseling, we will dive deep to explore your vocational identity, including your style of work, strengths, interests, and beliefs in the world of work. We will also discuss your interactions with the working environment, explore any challenges at school/ work, improve skills to set realistic goals, and prepare an active career advancement plan to facilitate meaningful career decisions and more independent living. I adopt a psychotherapy approach in vocational/academic counseling sessions with young clients. Together, we process academic-related distress, such as performance anxiety and feeling less of self. I will guide students to discover and understand their capabilities, interests, and potential, with the goal of empowering their academic planning and personal growth to adulthood.
